About Us

Smarter car decisions.
Less guesswork.

At Justify or Junk, we're a small team of everyday North Americans who believe making one of life's biggest financial decisions shouldn't require hours of research, endless phone calls, or becoming an automotive expert.

Like many people, we've faced the same questions:

  • Is this repair actually worth it?
  • Should I keep my car or replace it?
  • Am I making an expensive mistake?

We created Justify or Junk to provide clear, unbiased, data-driven guidance when it matters most.

Our goal is simple: help people make smarter vehicle decisions with confidence.

By combining vehicle data, ownership costs, repair trends, market information, and the power of the JJ Decision Engine™, we transform complex information into recommendations that are easy to understand and practical to use.

We're not here to sell you a car or convince you to repair one. Our mission is to give you the information you need to make the decision that's right for you—while helping you save time, reduce stress, and potentially avoid costly mistakes.

Whether you're facing a major repair bill, shopping for a used vehicle, or simply wondering if it's finally time to move on from your current car, we're here to help you make a decision you can feel good about.

How the JJ Decision Engine™ works

Every assessment starts with the vehicle itself: year, make, model, trim, engine, drivetrain and mileage. From there the engine weighs up to a hundred inputs, including known failure patterns for your specific powertrain, open recalls from NHTSA and Transport Canada, typical repair and labor costs in your region, current market values for your vehicle and its likely replacement, and the priorities you tell us matter most — budget, reliability, safety, or simply not being stranded again.

The output is not a generic rule of thumb. It is a single verdict — JUSTIFY or JUNK — with a confidence score, the reasoning behind it, a cost breakdown of keeping versus replacing, and a Bottom Dollar figure: the repair amount above which keeping your particular car stops making financial sense.

Independent, by design

We don't sell cars, take commissions from dealers, or get paid by repair shops. The site is funded by the reports themselves — your first assessment is free, and additional reports are a simple one-time purchase. That keeps the analysis pointed at one thing only: what's actually best for you.
